Gymnasium Gallery

The Berwick Gymnasium Arts Fellowships were established in 1993 and are offered annually to professional visual artists who have demonstrated a committment to their practice. It is open to all visual artists both regional, national and international. The programme is funded by English Heritage, the Northern Rock Foundation and Arts Council England, North East, and provides artists with the opportunity to respond to the rich architectural landscape of Berwick-upon-Tweed and is renowned in the art world for promoting the work of professional, emerging artists.
The Fellowships give artists a prolonged period of time when they can focus on their work, using the Gymnasium Gallery during the winter months as a studio and developing new work in response to this unique border location. It is a highly regarded opportunity.
